On the 28 February 2022, the Northern Rivers Community Legal Centre was impacted by the 2022 Eastern Australia floods. A number of our documents were water-damaged, destroyed or lost. We are currently investigating the extent of the damage and identifying any salvageable documents. There is no evidence at this time that any client's personal information has been accessed. The incident has been reported to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

The Tenants’ Advice and Advocacy Service provides free, independent information, advice, advocacy and referrals to tenants in the Northern Rivers of NSW.

How to get advice over the closure period

The Tenants’ Union will be coordinating a Holiday Hotline to make sure renters can get urgent advice. The Hotline will operate on:

 

  • Monday 18/12/2023 to Friday 22/12/2023
  • Wednesday 27/12/2023 to Friday 29/12/2023
  • Tuesday 2/1/2024 to Friday 5/1/2024
  • Monday 8/1/2024 to Tuesday 9/1/2024

 

The hours on those days are: 10am–1pm, 2pm–5pm

 

Tenants Advice and Advocacy Service (TAAS)

The Tenants’ Advice and Advocacy Service provides free, independent information, advice, advocacy and referrals to tenants in the Northern Rivers of NSW.

We assist:

  • people renting privately through a landlord or real estate agent,
  • tenants in public and community housing,
  • tenants renting in caravan parks,
  • homeowners in land lease communities and
  • residents of boarding houses.
